Lamp by Arne Jacobsen. Produced by Louis Poulsen.

The AJ Table Lamp was designed, among other lighting fixtures, for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The AJ Table Lamp is on the same principles as the AJ floor, but due to the useability as a working desk lamp the shade has been expanded. The base of the table lamp was originally intended to accommodate an ashtray but now contributes solely to the design. Design by Arne Jacobsen.

Furniture - Chair - Flag Halyard - Hans Wegner |
Flag Halyard Chair by Hans Wegner. Produced by PP Furniture.

With The Flag Halyard Chair, Hans Wegner acknowledges the early modernists such as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, and Marcel Breuer, and proves that he too masters designs in chromium- plated steel pipes. Despite this gesture, the chair is still decidedly Wegner. The chair’s surfaces are made of plaited flag halyard with the longhaired sheepskin softening the industrial sharpness of the steel, adding comfort. The product are licensed and manufactured in Denmark.

Furniture - Chair - Spanish - Borge Mogensen |
Spanish Chair by Borge Mogensen. Produced by Fredericia Furniture.

The Spanish Chair is Borge Mogensen’s (Wikipedia) masterly interpretation of a traditional type of chair often found in areas influenced by ancient Islamic culture – from Andalusia to northern India. Mogensen drew inspiration from a trip to Spain in 1958. He modernised the shape, eliminating the elaborate carvings while retaining the important feature: the broad armrests that give the chair character and provide a practical place to put a glass or cup. The combination of oak and butt leather gives a strong, rustic appearance.

Teema dinnerware by Kaj Franck. Produced by Iittala.
Based on bold, geometric forms, every Teema piece is part of a larger thought system where everything fits with everything. Kaj Franck found the basic forms simply irresistible, and spent his time reducing all that was excessive, until only the essential remained. Every piece is designed with a practical and functional aspect. Mixing these features and combining them with other dishes will give you an endless range of innovative, colourful table settings. Teema fits in well at family gatherings, as well as in more formal settings. The Teema series is highly versatile and an ideal accompaniment to the entire Iittala range.

Furniture - Sofa - Poeten - Finn Juhl |
Sofa Poeten by Finn Juhl. Produced by Hansen & Sørensen.
Finn Juhl designed Poeten for his own home in 1941 - and I'm guessing that home was tall and not that spacious, judging by the proportions of the sofa. Today this sofa represents a part of Danish cultural history and modern furniture that exudes values that have more or less disappeared in these days of fleeting fancies. Poeten is made to the finest manufacturing standards with hand-sewn upholstery, and its legs come in several different types of wood. Inspired by "free art".
