Lighting - AJ table - Arne Jacobsen

Lamp by Arne Jacobsen. Produced by Louis Poulsen.

ajlamp

The AJ Table Lamp was designed, among other lighting fixtures, for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The AJ Table Lamp is on the same principles as the AJ floor, but due to the useability as a working desk lamp the shade has been expanded. The base of the table lamp was originally intended to accommodate an ashtray but now contributes solely to the design. Design by Arne Jacobsen.

Furniture - Chair - Flag Halyard - Hans Wegner

Flag Halyard Chair by Hans Wegner. Produced by PP Furniture.

flaghalyardchair

With The Flag Halyard Chair, Hans Wegner acknowledges the early modernists such as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, and Marcel Breuer, and proves that he too masters designs in chromium- plated steel pipes. Despite this gesture, the chair is still decidedly Wegner. The chair’s surfaces are made of plaited flag halyard with the longhaired sheepskin softening the industrial sharpness of the steel, adding comfort. The product are licensed and manufactured in Denmark.

Furniture - Sofa - Charles - Antonio Citterio

Charles Sofa by Antonio Citterio. Produced by B&B Italia.

charlessofa
Milanese furniture designer Antonio Citterio´s sofa Charles can be configured almost any way from a selection of sixteen modular elements. The low profile keeps everything close to the ground, and the now much-copied L-shaped aluminum legs give it the perfect mix of simplicity and balance.

Charles sofa line it´s manufactured by B&B Italia. A very comfortable seat, the sofa is a welcoming shelter to lie down in: these attributes are offered by the revisited Charles system by Antonio Citterio, which has long been a classic of interior design and has enjoyed consistent marked sucess since it´s introduction in 1997. A new depth has reshaped it´s look to meet the growing demand of consumers who prefer a larger model.

Ball Clock by George Nelson. Produced by Vitra.

Probably the most famous clock design by Nelson, the Ball Clock's whimsical design is as modern as ever. Designed by George Nelson ca. 1948, his vision was to bring modern lasting design into common aspects of the home. Designed in the 1940s and '50s, George Nelson's clocks were highly successful both as popular consumer products and icons of high design.

One of the most original American designers, Nelson used pure color and bold graphic forms to make a statement still as compelling today as it was half a century ago. The timekeepers are diligently reproduced by the Vitra Design Museum.

The Mixer by KitchenAid.

KitchenAid has spent decades creating innovative products for the well-equipped kitchen. From commercial grade cooktops and wine cellars to stand mixers and an impressive assortment of cookware, bakeware and accessories, we offer virtually every culinary essential you could need.

The KitchenAid® stand mixer is legendary for a reason and The KitchenAid mixer became wildly popular during the 1920s and 1930s. Like most housewares at the time, the mixers were sold either door to door or through a KitchenAid party at which a salesperson demonstrated the appliance's functions by using it to prepare a meal for the guests, who were then encouraged to order a KitchenAid mixer.

During this time several attachments were developed for use in mixing a variety of foods, and the KitchenAid name was also given to an electric coffee mill introduced by Hobart. In 1924 Hobart's Troy Metals subsidiary was renamed the KitchenAid Manufacturing Company, and its headquarters were set up in Dayton, Ohio.

Housebird by Charles and Ray Eames. Produced by Vitra.

Charles and Ray Eames augmented the interior "collage" of the Eames House with numerous objects brought back from their extensive travels. The figure of a black wooden bird - evidently one of their most prized objects of American folk art - has stood in the center of their living room for over fifty years. Also seen as an accessory in many of the Eames' photographs, the bird figure was from the Appalachian mountain region of the eastern United States. Based on the original artifact and in cooperation with the Eames family, Vitra is now producing the first series of this figure.

With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look."

The Eames house bird is made from solid Alder with a black lacquer finish and steel wire legs.

Rocking Chair by Charles and Ray Eames. Produced by Vitra.

In the early 1940's the Eames, Charles (1907-1978) and Ray (1912-1989), had the chance to experiment with new methods of bending plywood in the work they did for the navy wartime effort. They applied these techniques to their furniture design.

The RAR (rocking armchair rod) has a moulded fibreglass-reinforced polyester seat and an eiffel tower base with birch wood rockers on the bottom. It is said that the RAR rockers were originally gifts to herman miller employees who just had newborns!

Swivel Chair by Charles and Ray Eames. Produced by Vitra.

Chair in chromed-alumminum, one of the most famous Charles Eames's designs. The alumminium group hailed as the most distinctive design ever produced by Eames. Upholstered in luxurious Italian leather with tubular steel column, and 4-star feet. The Swivel Chair is an inventive combination of materials and an outstanding example of functionality in design.

Lamp by Niels Bak Rasmussen. Produced by OiOi

Hang On Honey is based on a simple, novel idea: You hang the shade directly on the bulb. The shade is held against the bulb with silicone knobs. It is easy to replace in order to enjoy another shade in a different colour when you feel like it.

The elegance of the varnished shade, the shape of the shade, the high light output, the custom-made lampholder and last, but not least the silicon knobs – everything for this lamp has been designed, down to the last detail. A simple, yet sophisticated design.
